RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SETTLEMENT OF ALL CLAIMS BY
BRANDON YOUNG,RUTH JEAN,AND WISELY JEAN(CLAIMANTS)IN THE
AGGREGATE SUM OF ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS
($150,000.00), PAYABLE AS FOLLOWS: THE LAW OFFICES OF JORDAN
"ALEX" JOHNSON, LLC, AS ATTORNEY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
ADMINISTRATOR TO DISBURSE THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED AND
FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($150,000.00); WAIVING AUGUSTA,
GEORGIA CODE OF ORDINANCES SECTIONS IN CONFLICT FOR THIS
INSTANCE ONLY;AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Brandon Young, Ruth Jean, and Wisely Jean, filed suit claiming
damages for unreasonable and excessive force in the State Court of Richmond County,
Brandon Young, Ruth Jean, and Wisely Jean v. Augusta-Richmond County, Deputy
William Geisen, Richmond County Sheriffs Department,and John Does 103.
WHEREAS, all parties to said lawsuit desire to settle all claims; and
WHEREAS, Claimant has agreed to settle all claims against Augusta-Richmond
County, Deputy William Geisen, and the Richmond County Sheriffs Office for the sum of
one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00), payable to the Law Offices of
Jordan"Alex"Johnson, LLC.
WHEREAS,it is in the best interests of Augusta,Georgia to resolve this matter and
pay the amount of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00)to Claimants as
set out above to settle all claims of Claimants against Deputy William Geisen, Augusta-
Richmond County, the Sheriff of Richmond County and their employees and agents
arising out of the facts alleged in said lawsuit:
While Claimants were in the parking lot of Denny's on Washington Road, Deputy
Geisen heard Brandon Young say: "fuck you pig." Deputy Geisen approached Brandon
Young and arrested him for disorderly conduct. Ruth Jean then questioned Deputy
Geisen about the arrest of Brandon Young, and she blocked Deputy Geisen from leaving
the parking lot. Deputy Geisen arrested Ruth Jean for obstruction of an officer. Wisely
Jean was also arrested for obstruction after protesting the arrest of his sister Ruth Jean.
WHEREAS,Augusta,Georgia acknowledges that the payment set forth herein does
not constitute any admission of liability on the part of Augusta, Georgia, Sheriff of
Richmond County, or any of their deputies or employees and liability is expressly denied;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta, Georgia
Commission,

Section 1: The Augusta, Georgia Commission will settle the claims set forth
above for the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00), payable to
the Law Offices of Jordan "Alex"Johnson, LLC, attorney for Brandon Young, Ruth Jean,
and Wisely Jean.
Section 2: The County Administrator is authorized to pay a total sum of one
hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00), payable to the Law Offices of Jordan
"Alex"Johnson, LLC, attorney for Brandon Young, Ruth Jean, and Wisely Jean.
Section 3: To the extent that any section of the AUGUSTA,GA.CODE is in conflict
herewith,that subsection is waived for this instance only.
