FOR THE PUBLIC SUPPORT FROM THE AUGUSTA, GEORGIA ADMINISTRATIVE
SERVICES COMMITTEE WHILE OPERATION TEAMMATE COORDINATES AND
EXECUTES CHILDREN'S FOCUSED EVENTS THROUGHOUT AUGUSTA,
GEORGIA IN CALENDAR YEAR 2017.
WHEREAS,Operation Teammate is applying to the Augusta, Georgia Administrative Services
Committee to show public support to Operation Teammate while supporting the children of
military and first responder parents during times of family separation; and
WHEREAS,Operation Teammate works with college and professional athletic organizations to
have these children become honorary teammates during the family separation; and
WHEREAS,Operation Teammate events are open to all branches of the military(National
Guard, Reserve, and active duty), Veterans, wounded warriors, and a variety of first responder
professionals; and
WHEREAS,the preferred target audience for an Operation Teammate event is those school age
children(ages 5-18)that have a U.S. Military or First Responder parent(s) away from home on
duty,resulting in an extreme family separation; and
WHEREAS, the 2017 Operation Teammate goal is to conduct at least one event per calendar
year quarter throughout the Augusta, Georgia area,which would involve a variety of college and
professional athletic organizations; and
WHEREAS,Operation Teammate events consist of approximately 15-20 participating children,
averaging a$500.00 financial obligation to satisfy the requirements to properly execute each
event; and
WHEREAS,an individual Operation Teammate event financial obligation consist of promotion
material, admission/food vouchers, gear(shirts) for the participating children/parent(s), sports
personality speakers fee, and Operation Teammate point of contact travel; and
WHEREAS, activity options during an Operation Teammate athletic event could possibly
include, meet/greet with the athletes, sports personality speeches, arena tours,pre-game/half-time
recognition,post game pictures/autographs, and memorabilia presentations; and
WHEREAS,Operation Teammate events are bonding experiences for families and promote a
positive lifestyle that have lead to open dialogue between our children and the deployed parent,
directly resulting in success of our mission; and
WHEREAS, attendee's engagement with athletic personalities at/during events further solidifies
an event's success, and our program's mission is supported by overwhelming positive
testimonial feedback from attending families; and
WHEREAS, a direct parental testimonial is "The kids are always excited when they attend an
Operation Teammate event, interacting with the athletes really sets a fantastic example."D.

WHEREAS,the Board and Commissioners of Augusta, Georgia are knowledgeable of and are
in agreement with the proposed public support.
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Board and Commissioners of Augusta,
Georgia does hereby:
Support the submission of an application by Operation Teammate to the Augusta, Georgia
Administrative Services Committee for the purpose of public support while Operation Teammate
coordinates and executes children's focused events throughout Augusta, Georgia in calendar year
2017.
