EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE MAYOR:
FLAGS ON CITY BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED
LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF
WHEREAS: On Sunday,February 5th, 2017,Richmond County Sheriff's office Deputy Sergeant
Greg Meagher,died in the line of duty while responding to a call in an attempt to save
an employee inside Xytex Corporation in Augusta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS: The residents of the City of Augusta, Georgia, along with his family and friends mourn
the passing of Richmond County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Greg Meagher; and
WHEREAS: Sgt.Meagher was a 33-year veteran with the Sheriff's office and a former drug
investigator highly acknowledged as an officer that contributed greatly to the successful
outcomes of department operations and investigations; and
WHEREAS: Sgt.Meagher is survived by a host of family and friends that cherished him dearly and
his sacrifice and service to the community will forever be remembered; and
WHEREAS: The dedicated men and women of the law enforcement community put themselves in
harm's way to serve and protect others daily; and
WHEREAS: Sgt. Meagher is recognized and revered as a devoted public servant to the citizens of the
City of Augusta,Georgia; and
NOW,THEREFORE,IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE
MEMORY OF RICHMOND COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE DEPUTY
SERGEANT GREG MEAGHER,PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED
IN ME AS THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF AUGUSTA, GEORGIA,IT IS
HEREBY
ORDERED: That the flag of the United States and the flag of the Great State of Georgia be flown
half-staff on all City buildings and grounds until sunrise,Monday,February 13th, 2017.
