The Furniture Consultant's contributfon fnvolves furniture selection, design and documentation of the program elements associated with the Public and Front of House Support Spaces in accordance with the Fumtture Consultant Scope of Services. Scope of Services General A For the purposes of defining the scope of services, Furniture and Accessories (F&A) items are subdivided into three categories: Cateaorv A• Items selected and suecified bv the F&A Consultant Included in this category are items that can contribute to the overall image of the facility. Examples of these items are Portable Furnishings such as Public Trash Receptacles, Planters and Carpet Walk- Off Mats, Staging, Risers, Oance Floor, Coat Racks, Folding Tables, Folding and Stack Chairs, White Boards, Tacic Boards, Easels and Lecterns, Sofas, Lounge Chairs and Occasional Tables, Desks, Credenzas, Chairs, Conference Tables and Systems Furniture, Break Room Tables and Chairs, Exterior Site Tables, Chairs, 8enches and Planters, Window Shades, Draperies and Blinds. Cateaory B• Items selected and soecified bv the Owner / Ongrator Included in this category are operational or technical items functional in nature in which the expertise and desires of the Operator are paramo�nt. Examples of these items are Housekeeping Equipment: Vacuum Cleaners, 5crubbers, Lifts, Trash, and Garbage Compactors; Office Equipmenr Copy Machines, Maii machines and Oesktop Computers; Maintenance / Shop Equipment: Ladders. The F&A consultant will provide the documentation in the form of procurement bid packages, required to allow the Owner to purchase Category A items. 1. Survey for reuse of Owner's existing furniture inventory and relocation design services are not included in the F&A Consultant Basic Services. 2. It elected by the Owner, survey and relocation of existing furniture inventory can be provided as an additional service to the F&A ConsultanYs Basic Services. Program Verification A Consult with the Owner, Operator and other consultants to establish design including aesthetic, qualiry, quantity, functional and budget gufdelines for Category A furniture and budgetary guidelines for Category B& C. B Determine Owner / OperaYor's intentions for Category A furniture items that may be considered 5hared Inventory, Existing and / or Leased. C Receive Owner / Operator's Category B& C estimated total allowances. D Identify functional, operational and maintenance criteria of importance to the Owner, relative to Category A furniture. E Based on Owner's direction, prepare furniture layouts ot major areas to the extent required to define Category A furniture items in terms of types, sizes and quantities. F Prepare an itemfzed listina for Category A furniture (tems and an estimated Statement of Probable Procurement Cost of Category furnfture items for the Owner's approval. G Assist the Owner / Operator in the development of a prel(minary design and procurement schedule that kargets milestones end lead-time durations for the project. destgn Development Phase � A Define Category A furniture items in terms of quality level, durability raquirements, and visual character. B Assemble proposed Category A furniture items in a notebook to convey design intent including, but not limited to: fumiture layout plans, using Archttect's backgrounds, as may be appropriate for certain areas, catalogue cuts, illustrations of furniture items wiih descriptions of f(nishes, and their visual relationship tv adjacent materials and finishes of the building. Submit For Owner's review and approval. C Provide a revised estimated Statement of Probable Procurement Cost and procurement schedule... D Consult with Owner's purchasing department or procurement entity to determine procedural requirements that may affect Category A furrtiture bidding. Procurement Document Phase A Consult periodically with the Owner and / Operator and report on progress of Category A furniture services and to receive direction and approvals related to Design �evelopment Phase. tvsdesign FURNITURE CONSULTANT SERVICES z/z4I2011 Project No. 03211'000 / File No. 802-074 Page 3 of 5 B Coordinate with Architects and project engineers, as necessary, to integrate Category A furniture into the total convention center design. C Prepare Procurement �ocuments for Category A furniture items which will inciude general requirements, technical specifications and furnishing location plans as required which define quality leve�, construction, visual character, manufacturer's name and model number, fumiture dimensions, finishes, and accessories. 1. The Procurement Documents wiil allow the Owner to secure Category A furniture items through a bid process administered by the OwneYs purchasing agent or other designated representative. Bidding Phase A Respond to bidders requests for clarification. B Prepare necessary addenda to clarify bidding documents. C Assist the Owner / Purchasing Agent or designated representative in the evaluation of bids and to determine compliance with design intent and speciflcations. Procurement Administration Phase A Assist Owner / Purchasing Agent or designated representative in establishing submittal schedule with manufacturers that corresponds to manufacturing lead times and the Owner's desired delivery schedule for Category A items. B Review of furniture submittafs tor Category A items for compliance with Procurement Documents. C One site v(sit upon substantial completion of instailation to review placement of Category A furniture items to report visible damage and to verify that the actual instatlation is in accordance with the Procurement Documents. Scheduls A This proposal is based on the following durations by phase: 1. Program Verification - 3 weeks 2. Design Develogment - 6 weeks 3. Procurement Documentation - 4 weeks 4. 8idding /Negotiation - 3 weeks 5.
