Sanitary Sewer Project, project number 60108 Augusta Utilites Department is currently in the �rs�� c�f ' c�n�i�+�tin� the Sutt�r �€t�r��p�a� East Ph. 2 Sewer Project. Removal of asphalt pavin�* rrz� prcr�er�y� o��ncs� �}: FIItS �iz��t��s (Fleming Church of God) within the easement acquir�d frcam>ti�e c��h �'c�r th� �n�talIa��c�� t��t��. sewer line was required, and subsequently perform�d t�y the ��r�tra:��r� B�ai� ��z�tru�ta�� lr��., during the construction phase of the project performed on subject property. Upon review of the plans and contract documents it was determined that a line item was not established in the contract by the designer to replace the existing asphalt due to the poor condition of the asphalt, and belief that the paved area was not used by the church. Since there are no buildings on subject property, nor evidence of any church aetivities at the property, removal of the deteriorated asphalt was noted on the plans by the designer along with an additional note to restore the subject area and plant grass. After the construction of the sewer and subs�+.��t r�stc�rr�ti�an �n su��ct prc�perty u��s completed, it was indicated by the church that the� ��d t�i� pra�e�°t:v �'ur ��t�nal �ver�[� a�ut � to 6 times a year and needed a roadway for sub�ect activiti�s: 7"h�;�' ��x�xc�ted t.i�.t ��'�Cn�� t�� former asphalt paving was in poor condition, �rut it did ��rti'� the �u�:►c�� vf ��rc�ui�i�g a�iz� driving surface for vehicles when subject events took place seasonally. Since the asphalt was in such poor condition and the roadway is used only on special occasions, it was agreed by Augusta Utilities Department (AUD) and David Selph, a representative for the church, that it would be a fair and equitable approach if the contractor conshucted' a six inch thick GAB roadway in lieu of a more expensive asphalt roadway. An attachment is provided from Blair Construction, Inc., outlining the proposal to do the work and associated costs of the subject GAB replacement roadway.
