WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Superior Court of Richmond County, Georgia handles a significant volume of real estate transfers on an annual basis; and WHEREAS, the Tax Assessor's Office processes such transfers on the tax rolls of Richmond County, Georgia; and WHEREAS, while the Tax Assessor's Office makes every effort to ensure that the transfers are properly recorded, the potential for error still exists; and WHEREAS, if a transfer is incorrectly recorded, the error can create additional errors in the Tax Commissioner's Office; and WHEREAS, if the tax map and parcel number was added to the legal description of real estate deeds, errors could more readily be identified and avoided; and WHEREAS, the Tax Assessor, Tax Commissioner and the Clerk of the Superior Court believe that the addition of the tax map and parcel number to the legal description of real estate deeds will improve the efficiency of each oftheir respective offices. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commission, and it IS hereby resolved by authority of same the following: 1. That all persons filing real estate deeds transferring real property in Augusta Richmond County, Georgia are hereby requested to include the tax map and parcel numbers of the transferred property in the legal description of same. 1 .' ..~ :, ... .' 2. That the County Attorney communicate such request to the members of the Augusta Bar Association. 3. That the Clerk of the Superior Court, when returning recorded deeds to attorneys and other professionals recording deeds in Augusta Richmond County, Georgia, notify such individuals of such request. 4. That this resolution shall pecome effective upon its adoption.
