RESOLUTION REQUESTING STATE OF GEORGIA TO ESTABLISH A
SYSTEM FOR NON-RENEWAL OF LICENSE TAGS UNTIL PAYMENT OF
DELINQUENT PARKING TICKETS
WHEREAS, there is a need for a cost effective method of collecting
outstanding parking tickets; and
WHEREAS, Georgia law currently provides in O.C.G.A. ~ 4~-2-33(a)
that the tag agent shall issue the' appropriate license plate or revalidation
decal upon application and payment of the appropriate fee; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to this statute authorizing the tag agent
to refuse to issue the license plate or revalidation decal, 'in those
counties adopting an appropriate ordinance for the non-renewal of the
license plate or revalidation decal pending payment of outstanding parking
tickets, would provide a cost effective means of collecting these tickets;
NOW, THEREFORE( BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission that the Richmond County Legislative Delegation is requested to
introduce and sponsor appropriate legislation to authorize the non-renewal
of license plates or revalidation decals until outstanding parking tickets
had been paid.
