RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING RICHMOND COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE ,DELEGATION TO SUPPORT
LEGISLATION ASSESSING USER FEES ON ALL
COMMUNICATION DEVICES CAPABLE OF
MAKING 91'1 EMERGENCY CALLS.
WHEREAS, Georgia law currently enables local governments
to assess a user fee of up to $1.50 per phone to establish and
maintain E-911 service; and
WHEREAS, approximately 30% of calls in Richmond County
originate from cellular phones; and
WHEREAS, cellular phone users should share in the cost of
emergency 911 service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission that the Richmond County Legislative Delegation,
is requested to support legislation to assess user fees on all
communication devices capable of making 911 emergency calls.
