RESOLUTION REQUESTING RICHMOND COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO OPPOSE
LEGISLATION ELIMINATING BUSINESS
PERSONAL PROPERTY FROM THE TAX DIGEST
WHEREAS, Georgia law currently includes business personal
property in the t~x digest; and
WHEREAS, if Georgia law is amended such that business
personal property is eliminated from the tax digest, there will be
a loss of approximately 30% of the tax digest in Richmond County;
and
WHEREAS, if Richmond County suffers this loss in its tax
digest, the tax burden would shift to the owners of real property;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission that the Richmond County Legislative Delegation
is ,requested to oppose legislation which would eliminate business
personal property from the tax digest.
Duly adopted by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission
