RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR
OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA TO ADD TO
THE AGENDA FOR THE SPECIAL CALLED
SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY THE
CONSIDERATION OF THE REGULATION OF
AMUSEMENT MACHINES IN GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the 2001 General Assembly considered proposed
legislation regulating gambling amusement machines in the State of
Georgia, but time expired prior to the adoption of the proposed
legislation; and
WHEREAS, due to the outlawing of video poker machines and
other gambling amusement games in the State of South Carolina,
there has been an influx of gambling amusement games in Augusta and
in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the Governor has called for special sessions of
the General Assembly for consideration of reapportionment for both
the State legislative districts and the Congressional districts;
and
WHEREAS, there is an immediate need to address gambling
amusement games in Georgia;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION
joins in the request that the Governor of the State of Georgia add

to the agenda for one of the special sessions the consideration of
legislation to regulate amusement machines in the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Governor of the State of Georgia
