RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING LOCATION FOR PUBLIC MEETINGS
OF THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
A RESOLUTION BY THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, Augusta-Richmond County is pleased that public meetings, such as
Commission meetings, Committee Meetings, Special called meetings of the Commission and
other public meetings of the Commission are often well attended by the public; and
WHEREAS, based on state law, the Maximum Occupancy for the room adjacent to the
Commission Chambers, known as the "Committee Room", is 24 persons but there are often more
than 24 persons interested in and desiring to attend the Augusta-Richmond County Committee
Meetings; and
WHEREAS, permitting the physical access of more than 24 persons to the Committee
Room would exceed the state Maximum Occupancy for that room and would violate the laws
and ordinances of the State of Georgia as well as increase the risk of public harm and property
damage in the event of a fire; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Augusta-Richmond County Commission to minimize the
risk of injury to all those attending public meetings and to increase accessibility for disabled
persons; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission that, unless another location is specially set by the Mayor and Commissioners, all
public meetings of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission, including Committee Meetings,
shall be held in the Lee Beard Augusta-Richmond County Commission Chambers.
