RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO PROVIDE
TAX CREDITS WHEN LAND OR CONSERVATION
EASEMENTS ARE DONATED TO CHARITABLE
ORGANIZATIONS
WHEREAS, the Community Greenspace Preservation program was created to
encourage local government to adopt greens pace programs; and
WHEREAS, property owners have little incentives to donate land to the
community greenspace program; and
WHEREAS, Augusta believes property owners will be more inclined to donate
land to the program if tax credits, as opposed to tax deductions, are allowed.
WHEREAS, the Georgia Greenspace Trust Funds will have greater impact as a
result of more donations from private property owners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION expresses its support of providing tax
credits for donations of land or conservation easements to the community greenspace
program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Richmond County Legislative
Delegation is encouraged to support legislation authorizing a tax credits for donations of
land or easements to the community greenspace program.
