RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING RICHMOND
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO
SPONSOR LEGISLATION TO PROVIDE A
METHOD OF FUNDING NEW
TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT
REPLACEMENT FOR RECORDING
DOCUMENTS IN THE SUPERIOR COURT
CLERK'S OFFICE.
WHEREAS, technology has advanced so as to provide alternative methods for
recording of pleadings, deeds, and other instruments recorded in the Superior Court Clerk's
Office including digital recording; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for establishing a funding mechanism for those
counties which elect to pursue such alternatives to purchase necessary software and equipment to
implement such new technology;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission that the Richmond County Legislative Delegation be encouraged to sponsor
legislation authorizing counties, which elect to pursue such new technology, with the option of
imposing a surcharge on the recording of documents in the Superior Court Clerk's Office for the
purpose of funding new technology and equipment replacement for the recording of such
documents.
