RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGA TION TO
SUPPORT LEGISLATION TO PERMIT THE SALE
OF LICENSE PLATES TO FUND STERILIZATION
PROGRAMS FOR DOGS AND CATS.
WHEREAS Augusta is experiencing over population of dogs and cats; and
WHEREAS, the Augusta Animal Control Department euthanizes approximately 8,000
cats and dogs per year; and
WHEREAS, there is no low cost sterilization program in the Central Savannah River
Area; and
WHEREAS, revenues generated from the sale of the license plates would help fund the
local programs for the sterilization of dogs and cats; and
WHERAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission believes that the sale of
sterilization license plates would greatly reduce the costs to local governments to provide
sterilization of dogs and cats;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission
that the Richmond County Legislative Delegation is encouraged to support general legislation
permitting the sale of license plates to fund local programs for the sterilization of dogs and cats.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to the
Richmond County Legislative Delegation.
