RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION OPPOSING REALIGNMENT OF
AUGUSTA WEST PARKWAY AND BARTON
CHAPEL ROAD.
WHEREAS, the Georgia Department of Transportation is
planning for improvements on Wrightsboro Road in Augusta, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS, as a part of the Georgia Department of
Transportation Wrightsboro Road Improvements Project, it has been
proposed that Augusta West Parkway and Barton Chapel Road be
realigned; and
WHEREAS, the proposed realignment of Augusta West Parkway
and Barton Chapel Road as proposed by the Georgia Department of
Transportation will have significant impact upon businesses located
in that area; an~
WHEREAS, there are traffic operation issues in the area
of the Bobby Jones Expressway off ramps and Wrightsboro Road that
were identified in the Bobby Jones Corridor Study conducted by the
Georgia Department of Transportation and will have to be addressed
as a part of the Bobby Jones Expressway Project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND
COUNTY COMMISSION that request is made that the realignment of the

Augusta West Parkway and Barton Chapel Road be eliminated from the
Wrigt,tsboro Road Improvements proj ect I
and that any such
realignment be addressed as a part of solutions addressing the
traffic operations issues in connection with the Bobby Jones
Expressway off ramps.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
