WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission-Council
deems it important to adopt a Mission Statement and to provide to
the citizens of Richmond County a statement of their beliefs to
provide direction to the consolidated government of Augusta-
Richmond County; and
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission-Council,
with the input and assistance of the Citizens Advisory Committee,
have met on numerous occasions to prepare such a Mission Statement
and Statement of Beliefs; and
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission-Council
desires to adopt the following Mission Statement and Statement of
Beliefs so as to promote the interests of Augusta-Richmond County
and to help set a direction for the new consolidated government;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County eommission-Council that the following statement is adopted
as the Mission of the Augusta-Richmond County government, to-wit:
MISSION
To provide to all: its citizens cost-effective,
high quality government services and an
environment which enhances the economic well-
being and quality of life in the Augusta
metropolitan area.

Beliefs
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following Statement of
is hereby adopted by the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission-Council, to-wit:
BELIEFS
. We believe that open, honest communications with the
public and among governing officials will assure the
accomplishment of our community objectives.
. We believe that to be successful, the process of
government must include all citizens.
. We believe that government should employ good business
~, practices resulting in efficiency, accountability, and
performance measurement.
. We believe that citizens who are provided government
services should be viewed as "our customers" and treated
in a manner wh~ch is responsive,
efficient.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
courteous,
and
with its statement of the mission of the Augusta-Richmond County
consolidated government and the Statement of the Beliefs of the
Augusta-Richmond County government be provided to each department
