RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE
AUGUSTA METROPOLITAN CONVENTION
AND VISITORS BUREAU, INC. DISTRIBUTE
CERTAIN FUNDS TO THE AUGUSTA
SPORTS COUNCIL AND TO THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY MUSEUM.

WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Code was amended by Ordinance
No. 5997 (Augusta-Richmond County Code 9 2-2-27 and 9 2-2-32) to provide an additional one
percent (1 %) Hotel and Motel Tax and to provide for the distribution of the proceeds of said tax;
and
WHEREAS, Augusta-Richmond County Code 9 2-7-32 (e)(ii) provides that for
calendar year 1999, Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) is to be paid in twelve (12)
equal monthly payments to the Augusta-Richmond County Museum, with the balance of the
sixteen and two-thirds percent (16 2/3%) of the six percent (6%) Hotel/Motel Tax to be paid to
the Augusta Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc., to be used pursuant to
subsection (f) of said Code section; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission that
the Committee provided for under the SECOND AMENDMENT TO PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES CONTRACT BETWEEN AUGUSTA METROPOLITAN CONVENTION AND
VISITORS BUREAU, INC. AND AUGUSTA, GEORGIA, be encouraged to distribute said
monies in excess of the Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) to the Augusta Sports
Council and to the Augusta-Richmond County Museum;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission requests the Augusta Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the
Committee established pursuant to the contract with said Augusta Metropolitan Convention and
Visitors Bureau, distribute from the monies paid to the Augusta Metropolitan Convention and
Visitors Bureau, Inc. pursuant to Augusta-Richmond County Code S 2-2-32(e)(ii), the sum of
$50,000.00 to the Augusta Sports Council and the sum of $50,000.00 to the Augusta-Richmond
County Museum.
