RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION PROVIDE FOR A
SECOND JUDGE FOR THE STATE COURT OF
RICHMOND COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the State Court of Richmond County, Georgia
currently has one full time Judge and has for several years authorized
funds for Judge Ed Slaton to serve on a part-time basis as a Senior
Judge; and
WHEREAS, an addition Judge should be helpful in lowering the
misdemeanor inmate population at the Joint Law Enforcement Center; and
WHEREAS, a second judge would provide for faster and more
expedient disposition of criminal and civil matters in the State Court
of' Richmond County, which will benefit the public;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission that the Legislative Delegation of Richmond County
is requested to introduce at the 1997 Legislative Session of the
General Assembly local legislation to authorize a second judge for the
State Court of Richmond County.
