RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AN INCREASE IN THE MONTHLY 911 CHARGE AS PROPOSED BY THE ASSOCIATION OF' COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF GEORGIA AND THE GEORGIA . EMERGENGY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, there has been a significant mcrease m the number of calls received in the 911 Center; and WHEREAS, Augusta IS expenencmg increased costs m the provIsIOn of dispatching services; and WHEREAS, Augusta has a vested interest to insure that its citizens' safety, health, environment and quality of life are never compromised, especially pertaining to the operations of the 911 Center; and WHEREAS, the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia as well as the Georgia Emergency Management Association propose an increase in the monthly 911 charge as provided by the Official Code of Georgia Annotated S 46-5-134. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE AUGUSTA- RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION expresses its support of the proposal by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia and the Georgia Emergency Management Association to amend the Official Code of Georgia AmlOtated S 46-5-134 to increase the monthly 911 charge but said increase shall not to exceed $2.00 per month per exchange access faCility. ~;. ,~ ~ .. 1" BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Richmond County Legislative Delegation is encouraged to support legislation authorizing a monthly 911 charge not to exceed $2.00 per month per exchange access facility.
