RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO SEEK
FUNDING FOR IMPROVEMENTS FOR SECURITY,
FIRE PROTECTION, AUTOMATION, AND
STRUCTURAL IMPROVEMENTS OF THE
AUGUSTA LIBRARY FACILITIES.
WHEREAS, the Augusta Public Library has a need for interior and
exterior lighting to ensure the safety of its patrons and staff; and
WHEREAS, Augusta's public library has a need for fire alarms and
smoke detectors for all branch libraries and burglar alarms for two of its branch
libraries; and
WHEREAS, funding is needed to make necessary repaIrS and
improvement to the main and branch libraries; and
" WHEREAS, the Main Library of the Augusta Public Library is in need of
a public address system to be used for emergency announcements, disaster drills,
and closing announcements; and
WHEREAS, the technology of Augusta Public Library is outdated and
must be upgraded or replaced to be compatible with current software; and
WHEREAS, Augusta Public Library is in desperate need for funding in
the amount of $114,000.00 for automation upgrades and improvements to the
external condition, security, and fire protection systems of the libraries facilities; ""
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION expresses its support to seek funding

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Richmond County Legislative
Delegation is encouraged to seek funding in the amount of $114,000.00 for
improvements to security, fire protection, automation, and external conditions of
Augusta library facilities.
Duly adopted this I.~ day of January, 2002 by a vote of ~ yeas
and ~ nays with '12- abstaining or absent.
