RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO SUPPORT
LEGISLATION TO IMPOSE ADDITIONAL SURCHARGES
ON FINES IMPOSED BY COURTS
WHEREAS, surcharges are currently imposed by the Courts as
authorized by state law; and
WHEREAS, Augusta believes imposing an additional surcharge on fees
imposed in Superior, State, Juvenile, Civil and Magistrate Courts will help ease
the strain on local budgets; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION expresses its support for general
legislation to authorize local government to impose additional surcharges on fines
imposed by Superior, State, Juvenile, Civil and Magistrate Courts.
BE IT FURTHE_RRESOL VED that the Richmond County Legislative
Delegation is encouraged to support general legislation to authorize local
governments to impose additional surcharges on fines imposed by Superior, State,
Juvenile, Civil and Magistrate Courts.
Duly adopted this ~ day of January, 2002 by a vote of "8'" yeas
and ~ nays with ~ abstaining or absent.
