RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO MAKE
PROVISIONS FOR A "HOMELAND SECURITY"
EXEMPTION IN THE OPEN RECORDS ACT
WHEREAS, the Open Records Act requires all public records to be open
for inspection by any citizen of this state except as specifically exempted by state
law or prohibited by order of a court of this state; and
WHEREAS, disclosure of records relating to security measures would
compromise local government security programs; and
WHEREAS, Augusta believes records relating to security matters should
be exempted from the Open Records Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION expresses its support for a "Homeland
. Security" exemption in the Open Records Act which exempts records relating to
security matters from disclosure.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Richmond County Legislative
Delegation is encouraged to support legislation for a "Homeland Security"
exemption in the Open Records Act that exempts security related records from
disclosure.
