RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF GEORGIA GOLF HALL OF FAME
STATUES BEING DISPLAYED THROUGHOUT AUGUSTA DURING
MASTERS WEEK.
WHEREAS, The Augusta Masters Tournament is an internationally known golf
tournament attracting visitors from around the world and is the only one of golfs four (4) major
tournaments that is held at the same venue year after year; and
WHEREAS, Visitors for the Augusta Masters Tournament will be in Augusta, Georgia
from April 6-12, 2009; and
WHEREAS, The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame's purposes are: to preserve golf history in
both the state and region; to honor those, living or dead, who by achievement have produced
lasting contributions to the sport of golf in the state or elsewhere; to inspire Georgia youth
involved in golfto reach their highest potential; and
WHEREAS, The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame is dedicated to the preservation and
promotion of Georgia's golf traditions, heritage, achievements, and excellence and supports the
following goals: honor the game of golf; identify and select candidates for induction into the
Georgia Golf Hall of Fame; honor by enshrinement, individual contributions or achievements in
the sport of golf or golf industry; pay tribute to those inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of
Fame; preserve and illustrate golf history in the State of Georgia; promote golf and golf heritage
in the State of Georgia; promote the golf clubs, organizations, and associations in Georgia;
enhance public knowledge and appreciation of the game of golf and serve as an education
resource regarding the game of golf, golf heritage, contributors to the sport of golf; and
WHEREAS, The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame is in possession of various statues related to
the sport of golfing and golf personalities; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission to make
known to the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, the Georgia Legislative Delegation and the public, its
desire to have these golf statues displayed throughout Augusta, Georgia from April 6-12, 2009 to
support the sport of golf and to promote the purposes, mission and goals of the Georgia Golf Hall
of Fame.
THE COMMISSION OF AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY, GEORGIA
HEREBY RESOLVES that they support the displaying of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame
statues throughout Augusta, Georgia from April 6-12, 2009 and request that Georgia Golf Hall of
Fame grant this request. . n.A n', L
