RESOLU'TION
ABANDONING:-p()RT-IONS-OF MARKET STREET, 12TH STREET, AND
TATNALL STREET TO THE GEORGIA GOLF HALL OF FAME AND
AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission resolved by
Resolution dated June 3, 1997, that the following street segments in Richmond County,

Georgia, have ceased to be used by_ the public to the exte'nt that no substantial public
purpose is served by them: that portion of Market Street beginning at 13th Street and
ending at 12th Street, that portion of Tatnall Street beginning at 12th Street and ending at
11th Street, and that portion of 12th Street (Marbury St.) beginning at Reynolds Street and
ending with its termination at its conjunction with Market and Tatnall Streets, these being
the same as shown on Tax Maps 36-2 and 36-4, and on attached plat;
WHEREAS, the adjoiring property owners to the property described above
have been notified of the June 3,1997, Resolution; notice of the proposed abandonment
has been published in the Augusta Chronicle once a week for a period of two weeks; and
a public hearing on the proposed abandonment has been conducted on July 8, 1997, with
no objections being raised as to the abandonment of the street segments described above;
WHEREAS, by virtue of the events set forth above, the property identified as
that portion of Market Street beginning at 13th Street and ending at 12th Street; that
portion of Tatnall Street beginning at 12th Street and ending at 11th Street; and that
portion of 12th Street (Marbury'St.) beginning at Reynolds Street and ending with its
termination at its conjunction with Market and Tatnall Streets; these being the same as
shown on Tax Maps 36-2 and 36-4, and on attached plat, are deemed abandoned and no

longer a part of the Richmond County road system;
WHEREAS, notice has been given to the owners of abutting land holding title
through the owner from whom Augusta-Richmond County acquired the property of said
owner's right to acquire the land described above;
WHEREAS, the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame has communicated its desire to
exercise its right to acquire the above described property; and
WHEREAS, the property in question is being conveyed to the State of
Georgia;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved as follows:
1. It is hereby determined that all requirements of Georgia law for the
abandonment of a county roadway have been met and that the street segments referred
to in the Augusta-Richmond County Commission's June 3, 1997, Resolution, and
described as that portion of Market Street beginning at 13th Street and ending at 12th
Street; that portion of Tatnall Street beginning at 12th Street and ending at 11th Street; and
that portion of 12th Street (Marbury St.) beginning at Reynolds Street and ending with its
termination at its conjunction with Market and Tatnall Streets; these being the same as
shown on Tax Maps 36-2 and 36-4, and on attached plat, are no longer a part of the
Richmond County road system.
2. The Georgia Golf Hall of Fame h'as properly exercised its right to acquire
the property described above.
3. It is further determined that the Mayor of the Augusta-Richmond .County .
Commission, as successor to The City Council of Augusta, shall execute a Quit-Claim
Deed, and such other documentation as may reasonably be required, in forms approved.

by the County Attorney, conveying all of Richmond County's interest in the property, which
interest is subject to all easements of record for utilities, to the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.
This Resolution shall be recorded in the Minutes of the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission, accompanied by the exhibits referred to herein.
