RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING
FOR WEEP Am;) SEED SITE RECOGNITION
FOR BARTON CHAPEL NEIGHBORHOOD
w.HEREAS, Augusta, Georgia applied for Weed and Seed Site
Recognition for the Barton Chapel neighborhood, which is plagued by
crime and drug-related activities, and applied for funding for the
Weed and Seed project in the total .amount of $750 1000.00; and
w.HEREAS, Augusta has learned that the Federal government
plans to cut funding of this project to a total of $200,000.00; and
~, Augusta is in full support of the Weed and Seed
project and believes that its implementation will result in
benefits to individual residents of the Barton Chapel area and to
the community as a whole; and
w.RERBAS, these benefits cannot be realized if the project
is not fully funded by the Federal government,
NOW, TBEREFORE, BE IT R~SOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission that Augusta, Georgia hereby requests that the

Weed and Seed Site Recognition for the Barton Chapel neighborhood
be fully funded, in the.total amount of $750,000.00, by the Federal
government, and that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to the
U.S. Senators and Congressmen for their consideration and support.
Duly ac;iopted this 3" day of March, 1998.
