RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF HOSTING THE FIRST '.B. POWELL
INVITATIONAL LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT IN AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the first J.B. Powell Invitational Little League Baseball Tournament will
be held on August 1 & 2,2009, at the Diamond Lakes Regional Park; and
WHEREAS, all participating teams will be allowed to play free of charge and no gate
fees will be collected during the tournament; and
WHEREAS, all donations collected during the tournament will be given to the
Augusta's Berry Center, Inc. along with all proceeds from the batting clinic. All proceeds
from the Saturday, August 1st concert will be given to the Blue Rino Foundation founded by
baseball great Ryan Klesko, formerly with the Atlanta Braves Major League baseball team;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Augusta as a whole will benefit immensely because State
Senator J.B. Powell cares to make a difference. We extend our deepest appreciation to him
for establishing and hosting such a notable and worthwhile event.
WHEREAS, the City of Augusta, do hereby officially welcome Ryan Klesko and his
fellow Major League colleagues, all the participating teams, coaches, and visitors to
Augusta, Georgia and we offer our best wishes for a successful tournament.
THE COMMISSION OF AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY, GEORGIA HEREBY
RESOLVES to support the J.B. Powell Invitational Little League Baseball Tournament in
Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia.
