RESOLUTION TO COMMIT TO FUNDING
TO MATCH STATE GRANT FOR
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
(
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia anticipates issuing a Grant to Augusta, Georgia
to be used to stimulate economic development in the amount of Thirty Million Dollars
($30,000,000.00) over a three year period oftime; and

WHEREAS, Augusta desires to match the Grant by payment of the sum of
Twenty Million Dollars ($20,000,000) over a five year period; and
WHEREAS, Augusta proposes to match these funds through UDAG and CDBG
funds, and anticipates certain of the projects will be included in the proposed extension of the
Special Purpose Local Sales Tax to be voted on in the year 2000, with collections anticipated to

begin on January 1, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Augusta desires to commit the sum of Twenty Million

($20,000,000) towards its match with the State funds in order to secure said Grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission that it hereby commits the sum of $20,000,000 to be funded over five years to
match with the above referenced Grant from the State of Georgia, with the monies from Augusta
to come from either CDBG, UDAG, or SPLOST funds, or a combination thereof.
