RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Augusta-Richmond County recognizes that
continued operation of Fort Gordon and the U.S. Army Signal Corps Training Facility is
important to both the County's local economy and the economy of the Central Savannah River
Area, and that its future operational capacity should be protected; and
WHEREAS, the CSRA Regional Development Center has agreed to be the local sponsor
for the Fort Gordon Joint Land Use Study (FGJLUS) and will be coordinating and implementing
the project; and
WHEREAS, Augusta-Richmond County recognizes that participation in development of
a FGJLUS will benefit the health, safety and general welfare of the residents of Augusta-
Richmond County; and
WHEREAS, the CSRA Alliance for Fort Gordon has indicated that it will provide the
local cash match requirement for the project; and
WHEREAS, a resolution from the Augusta-Richmond County Board of Commissioners
is needed for the application for funds from the Office of Economic Adjustment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Augusta-Richmond County Board
of Commissioners as follows:
1. Augusta-Richmond County agrees to appoint representatives to the Fort Gordon
JLUS Project Technical and Advisory Committees and to participate in the study.
2. Augusta-Richmond County commits to a good faith effort to implement the
recommendations made by the FGJLUS Technical and Advisory Committees to
the extent that the recommendations are feasible and practical.
