'\ v r RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on June 2nd, 1897, the City Council of Augusta granted custody of the Confederate Powder Works Chimney to The Confederate Survivors Association for the purpose of preservation of the chimney; and WHEREAS, the Augusta E Porter Alexander Camp No. 158 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Organization is the natural descendant group of the Confederate Survivors Association, and has continued in the duties of preservation of the chimney since its inception; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE AUGUSTA- RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION that they hereby reaffirm the E. Porter Alexander Camp No. 158 as custodians of the Confederate Powder Works Chimney, with authority to continue in its work of preserving the chimney. It is understood that this confirmation of custodianship does not obligate the County to provide public funds for the preservation work.
