RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Commissioner Sherrill Stafford served as the Houston County's first and
only full-time Commission Chair, the first mayor of Centerville and at the time of his
death, wa:, president of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Stafford was a long time friend and colleague of the
Richmond County Board of Commissioners as well as the Augusta Commission; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Augusta Commission were deeply saddened and
shocked to learn of the untimely passing of Commissioner Stafford; and
WHEREAS, the family, friends and constituents of Commissioner Stafford, who some
called a p,eacemaker and a true leader, may always remember and never, ever forget
his love and concern for each of them, as he shall forever live in their hearts; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, that it is with our sincere care and concern that we,
the Augusta Commission of Richmond County, Georgia, send these humble words
expressing our heartfelt sympathy. May you find comfort in knowing that others care
and share your loss.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
family and friends of Commissioner Sherrill Stafford this 16th day of May, in the year of
our Lord, 2000.
