RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE RICHMOND COUNTY CHILD FATALITY
REVIEW COMMITTEE OF 2008
A RESOLUTION BY COMMISSIONER JERRY BRIGHAM
WHEREAS, the Richmond County Child Fatality Review Committee of 2008 worked
tirelessly to review cases every month, make reports and recommendations to the Georgia Child
Fatality Review Panel, and establish several programs and procedures to reduce the number of
child deaths and injuries in Augusta - Richmond County;
WHEREAS, the Richmond County Child Fatality Review Committee of 2008 began its
own campaign to educate the public on safe sleep habits for infants through parenting workshops
and newsletters;
WHEREAS, the Richmond County Child Fatality Review Committee of 2008 also
created an Asthma Coalition which was designed to educate families who have asthmatic
children, and which notified local schools when students visited the emergency room with
asthma related complications to enable the school to assist in the students' follow -up treatment;
WHEREAS, the Richmond County Child Fatality Review Committee of 2008 has been
named the 2008 Child Fatality Review Committee of the Year and has been recognized by the
Senate of the State of Georgia;
WHEREAS, the Augusta - Richmond County Commission applauds and deeply
appreciates the work the Richmond County Child Fatality Review Committee of 2008 has
conducted to educate the community on ways to prevent child injury and fatality and the
progress it has made in actually reducing child fatality rates in Augusta - Richmond County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT .. RESOLVED by the Augusta - Richmond County
Commission that the Richmond County Child Fatality Review Committee of 2008 is recognized
with the utmost pride and gratitude by the Augusta - Richmond County Commission.
