A RESOLUTION OF THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY
COMMISSION IN SUPPORT OF THE INSTALLATION OF
SAFETY CABLES ON THE BOBBY JONES EXPRESSWAY
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission is vitally interested in the
safety of the traveling public on all of its road system and on all state highways and all interstate
highways in Augusta, Georgia.
WHEREAS, there is an opportunity to improve the safety of travel on Bobby Jones
Expressway (I-520), specifically between the Gordon Highway and Deans Bridge Road
interchanges.
NOW THEREFORE, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission does hereby formally
notifY the Georgia Department of Transportation and the members of the General Assembly
from Richmond County of its support of the installation of safety cables in the median of Bobby
Jones Expressway (1-520) from its interchange with Gordon Highway (US-78) to its interchange
with Deans Bridge Road (US-I).
Be it further resolved that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the
Augusta-Richmond County Commission and that true copies hereof, attested to by the Clerk of
Commission.
Augusta, Georgia
Commission, be forwarded to all interested parties, including the Commissioner of the
Department of Transportation, members of the General Assembly, and members of the Board of
Directors of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
