A RESOLUTION
Board of Commissioners of Augusta-Richmond County
WHEREAS, technology research, development, and commercialization will lead to
greater economic development throughout Georgia and in Augusta-Richmond
County; and
WHEREAS, Augusta-Richmond County is a member government of Service
Delivery Area 7 in the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Advisory Councils of Service Delivery Areas 5 and 7, that
represent the counties and cities within the Athens and Augusta regions, support
and call for the establishment of a technology corridor between Athens and Augusta
to emphasize technology research, development, and commercialization to benefit
Georgia, the Central Savannah River Area, and Augusta-Richmond County; and
WHEREAS, economic benefit will accrue both within the corridor as well as outside
the corridor and benefit Augusta-Richmond County with technology research
opportunities, better paying jobs, new and expanded businesses and overall
community development; and
WHEREAS, the technology corridor is a regional priority included in the regional
economic development strategic plan of the CSRA Regional Development Center
and the Region 7 Regional Advisory Council; and
WHEREAS, many opportunities to develop the technology corridor and the
subsequent benefits to Augusta-Richmond County exist;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of
Augusta-Richmond County do hereby acknowledge their support for the creation
and development of the Augusta to Athens Techcology Corridor, including the
pursuit of funding, planning assistance, and other technical assistance needed to
assure success of the corridor; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Augusta-
