RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO
MAINTAIN THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY
COLISEUM AUTHORITY BUT TO PROVIDE THAT
THE MEMBERSHIP OF SAID COLISEUM
AUTHORITY BE APPOINTED BY THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority
has recently selected a management firm to take over the day to day
operation of the Civic Center and Bell Auditorium; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission to allow sufficient time to allow this new management
firm to restore public confidence in the operation of the Coliseum
Authority and not to involve itself in the day-to-day operation of
the Civic Center and Bell Auditorium; and
WHEREAS, there are outstanding Revenue Bonds being served
by revenue from the Beer Tax and Hotel - Motel Tax being collected
by Augusta-Richmond County and being paid to the Authority by virtue
of an Agreement the Coliseum Authority and the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission, as successor by consolidation to The City Council
of Augusta and the Board of Commissioners of Richmond County; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission that the membership of the Coliseum Authority be
appointed by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission, as terms of the
current members expire, and that the membership of the Coliseum
Authority be then limited to ten (10) members, with one member to
be appointed from each Commission district;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission that the Legislative Delegation of Richmond County
is requested to introduce at the 1997 Legislative Session of the
General Assembly local legislation to maintain the Coliseum
Authority of Richmond County, but to change the method of

appointment of new members of said Authority such that new members
will be appointed by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission as the
terms of current members expire, and that the membership of the
Coliseum Authority be then limited to ten (10) members, with one
member to be appointed from each Commission district.
