Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation for financial assistance for Augusta Public Tranqit. WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportation is authorized under 49 USC S3 to make grants for mass transportation projects; and WHEREAS, it is required by the U. S. Department of Transportation in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, that in connection with the filing of an application . under the Federal Transportation Act, as amended, the applicant give an assurance that it will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and the U. S. Department of Transportation requirements thereunder; and WHEREAS, it is the goal of the applicant that minority business enterprise be utilized to the fullest extent possible in connection with this project, and that the definitive procedures shall have the maximum feasible opportunity to compete for contracts when procuring construction contracts, supplies, equipment, contracts or consultants and other services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION: (1) That Bob Young, Mayor, is authorized to execute and file the application on behalf of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission with the U. S. Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation to provide financial assistance for capital and operating expenses for Augusta Public Transit. (2) That Bob Young, Mayor, is authorized to execute and file with such applications an assurance or any other documentation required by the U. S. Department of Transportation and Georgia Department of Transportation effectuating the purpose of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended. (3) That Bob Young, Mayor, is authorized to furnish such additional information as may be required by the U. S. Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation in connection with the application or the project. (4) That Bob Young, Mayor, is authorized to set forth and execute affirmative minority business enterprise policies and procedures in connection with the project's procurement needs. . (5) That Bob Young, Mayor, lS authorized to execute a grant agreement on behalf of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission with the U. S. Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation in connection with these applications.
