RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE RICHMOND COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO AMEND THE
CONSOLIDATION ACT [1995 GA. LAWS, P. 3648] TO
AMEND SECTION 13 {F} TO PROVIDE THAT MEMBERS
OF ALL BOARDS AND AUTHORITIES BE APPOINTED BY
THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, Section 13 (f) of the Consolidation Act [1995
Ga. Laws, p. 3648] provides that lithe membership of all boards,
commissions, committees, panels, authorities, or other entities
appointed by the board of commissioners of Richmond County or the
governing authority of the City of Augusta
shall be increased
by creating two new members for each who shall be recommended by
the Richmond County Delegation in the General Assembly of Georgia
and appointed by the commission-council established by this Act";
and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission to limit the membership on such boards and authorities
as are affected by said Section 13 (f) to ten members, with such
members to be appointed from each of the districts as provided by
said Act; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission to eliminate appointments to such boards and authorities
from members recommended by the Richmond County Legislative
Delegation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission that the Legislative Delegation of Richmond
County is requested to introduce at the 1997 Legislative Session of
the General Assembly local legislation to provide that all
appointments to boards and authorities affected by Section 13 (f)
of the Consolidation Act be made by the Commission-Council from the
ten commission districts and that membership of such boards and
authorities not be increased for appointments by the Richmond
County Legislative Delegation.
