RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE RESOLUTION ADOPTED
FEBRUARY 20, 2002 PROVIDING FOR FUNDING OF THE
INSTALLATION OF STREETLIGHTS AND THE ANNUAL
COST OF MAINTAINING AND OPERATING SAID
STREETLIGHTS; SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT FUNDING
SHALL BE BY A MILLAGE LEVIED COUNTY-WIDE WITH
A CREDIT FOR SUCH COST TO BE APPLIED TO THE
URBAN TAX DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Code, Section 7-3-1, et seq.,
provides for the establishment of special services street lighting districts; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of Augusta, Georgia (1995 Ga. Laws, p. 3648, as
amended by 1996 Ga. Laws, p. 3670, 1997 Ga. Laws, p. 4024, and 1997 Ga. Laws p.
4690, and 1999 Ga. Laws, p. 4143) provides authority for the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission to create special services tax districts and to assess, levy and collect ad
valorem taxes and collect service charges and fees for the provision of designated
services within a special services district, to include street lighting; and
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission has determined that it
is in the public interest and welfare for the section of roadways in the "Street Lighting
Master Plan" be lighted by streetlights, with the cost thereof to funded by the General
Fund, created along the arterial and interstate roadways, described as the Arterial and
lnterstate Light Program included iil the "Street Lighting Master Plan";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission that the cost of building, erecting, establishing, mqintaining, and operating
streetlights and lamps for the illumination of the public streets, roads and sidewalks and
ways therein, as set for the in the "Street Lighting Master Plan" be funded by a sufficient
millage to be levied county-wide with a credit for such cost to be applied to the Urban
Tax District.

IT IS ORDERED that the budget be hereby amended as set forth herein.
