Resolution
Of Condolences
WHEREAS, Adna L. Stein was a native of Mount Enterprise, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Adna L.' Stein attended the Texas Public Schools and upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and
graduated from the Army Engineering School, Fort Velvoir, Virginia in 1951 and the NCO Academy, Fort Carson, Colorado in
1956; and
WHEREAS, Adna L. Stein retiredfrom the United States Army on September 1, 1966 after twenty-one years of service and enter
the University of Georgia and South Carolina State University where he received a degree in Trade and Industrial Education;
and
WHEREAS, Adna L. Stein began his career of eighteen years as an educator with the Richmond County Board of Education
retiring in 1986 and was elected to two-four-year terms, beginning in 1993, on the Richmond County Board of Education serving
Chairman of the Building Committee and as its president from 1997 to 1999. He was active in several community organizations:
the Evening Optimist Club, CSRA Classic, and Richmond County Board of Retired Teachers Association and the Juneteenth
Society of Augusta, He was a member 'of Williams Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where he was a loyal
member and served diligently as a Trustee and Sunday school teacher,
WHEREAS, Adna L. Stein soft-spoken, hard-working ways will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him and loved him; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Augusta Commission were deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of
Adna L. Stein; and
WHEREAS, Adna L. Stein spent the majority of his life as a husband, father, public servant, statesman and serving the people of
Augusta, the State of Georgia and our country; and
WHEREAS, the family, friends, constituents and colleagues of Adna L. Stein, who some called a "true Southern gentleman who
brought a firm, but fair approach to the classroom and to the boardroom" who used his passion to especially help' his
community, whm was exemplified through hIS leadership may always remember and never, ever Jorget his love, concern and
dedication for each of them, as he shall forever live in their hearts; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED that it is with our sincere care and concern that we, the Augusta Commission of Richmond
County, Georgia, send these humble words expressing our heartfelt sympathy. May you find comfort in knowing that others care
and share your loss.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the family andfriends of Adna L. Stein this 17th
