RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
FOR JIM IDGDON
WHEREAS, Jim Higdon has been a key leader in state government through the terms of
five Georgia governors, beginning in 1970 when he was appointed Director of the State Crime.
Commission by Governor Jimmy Carter and continuing in 1980 when he was appointed
Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs by Governor George Busbee; and
WHEREAS, He has also served as Executive Director of the Georgia Housing and
Finance Authority and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Authority and has received numerous
honors on local, state and national levels and is active in a number of boards and professional
associations; and

WHEREAS, Jim Higdon has retired from the Department of Community Affairs after
more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, the elected officials, City employees and the people of Augusta have
benefited from his dedication, financial expertise, integrity and leadership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VEn that the Augusta-Richmond County
Commission does hereby express its thanks to Commissioner Jim Higdon for his outstanding
service to our Community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED that this Resolution be spread upon the official
minutes of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission, and a copy hereof given to Jim Higdon
and his family.
