RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING NEW
WIRELESS ENHANCED 911 CHARGES.
WHEREAS,
the
Augusta-Richmond
County
Commission
reaffirmed by Resolution adopted April 17, 2001 the necessity of
the enhanced "911"and the wireless enhanced "911"; and
WHEREAS, there is currently imposed a $1.50 per month
"911" charge upon each exchange access facility subscribed to by
telephone subscribers whose exchange to access lines are in areas
served by Richmond County "911" service; and
WHEREAS, there is currently imposed a $1.00 per month
wireless
enhanced
"911"
charge
upon
each
wireless
telecommunications connection subscribed to by subscribers whose
billing address is within the jurisdiction of Richmond County; and
WHEREAS, O.C.G.A. :3 46-5-134 (a) (2) (B) provides that on or
after October 1, 2001, the governing authority of a local
government which operates an emergency "911" system which is
capable of providing or provides automatic number identification
and
automatic
location
identification
of
a
wireless
telecommunications connection,
the subscriber of a wireless
telecommunications connection whose billing address is within the

geographical area that is served by the local government may be
billed for the monthly wireless enhanced ~911H charge imposed with
respect to that connection by the wireless service supplier in an
amount not to exceed the amount of the monthly ~911H charge imposed
upon subscribers of exchange access facilities; and
WHEREAS, Richmond County operates an emergency ~ 911H
system which is capable of providing an automatic number
identification and automatic location identification of a wireless
telecommunications connection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Augusta-Richmond
County Commission, as the governing authority of Richmond County,
pursuant to the provisions of a.C.G.A. ~ 46-5-134 (a) (2) (B), hereby
imposes a charge of $1.50 per month wireless enhanced "911" charge
upon each wireless telecommunications connection subscribed to by
subscribers whose billing address is within the jurisdiction of
Richmond County, effective May 1, 2002, which is more than 120 days
following the date of adoption of this Resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the providers of wireless
communication services to subscribers whose billing address lS
within the jurisdiction of Richmond County are directed to collect
an enhanced "911" charge in the amount of $1.50 per month per
wireless connection provided to each such telephone subscriber,
