RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RECOMMEND-
ATION OF THE REAPPORTIONMENT
COMMITTEE FOR THE REDISTRICTING OF
COMMISSION DISTRICTS FOR AUGUSTA,
GEORGIA.

WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission met at its regular session
on December 18, 2001; and, .
WHEREAS, the Augusta-Richmond County Commission considered the attached
recommendation of the Reapportionment Committee consisting of four (4) members each
of the Richmond County legislative delegation, Augusta-Richmond County Commission,
and County Board of Education of Richmond County; and,
WHEREAS, the recommendation of the Reapportionment Committee was
accompanied by underlying data and map(s) for review prior to a vote being called for upon
this resolution; and,
WHEREAS, each elected official has had an opportunity to review the
recommendation and ask questions;
NOW THEREFORE, by Motion, it is RESOLVED as follows:
1. That the redistricting plan contained in the Map labeled "Richmond County
Commission and School Board Districts, richrev3"andthe "Reapportionment Test
Plan Rev. 3" and the underlying data, which is attached to and.made a part hereof this
Resolution, is adopted as the basis for local election districts for the Augusta-
Richmond County Commission; and,
2. That Counsel prepare appropriate advertisement(s) and legislation for adoption of
these local election districts by the General Assembly; and
3. That upon passage of such legislation by the General Assembly, Counsel for Augusta,
Georgia, in conjunction with Counsel for the Board of Education of Richmond
County and the Director of the Board of Elections prepare all necessary submittals
to the United States Department of Justice under and required by the Voting Rights
Act of 1965 and provide any other information that may be helpful or required; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to each member
of the Local Delegation to the General Assembly as soon as possible asking the General Assembly

to adopt the recommendation presented and cooperate in developing legislation for these revised
districts.
