My request is for funds.for reproduction serVices to be made available to cover the costof printiDg additional
copies of the bro~hure entitled CEDAR GROVE CEMETERY A Historic Augusta Cemetery Founded 18~9.
frofessor Ernestine Thompson,Depar1ment of Sociology at ASU (737-1735) is the person that is lrnowledgeable
about how this was handled when the originalhrochure was printed. My understanding is that $175.00 would
print 100ccopies,
You will recall than told you that St. Paul's Sexton for over 50 years, Mitchell Tyler (he died in November of
1992), is buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery and that I visit his gravesite at Christmas and atEaster.
Recently I heard a Presentation t()the Kiwanis club by Mr. James Carter the m. His talk was about historically
important Afiican-American in the Augusta community. .
Soon thereafter I went to the Cedar Grove cemetery and met the new Superintendent Tara JImenez and after
talking with her she gave me a copy of the brochure entitled CEDAR GROVE CEMETERY A Historic Augusta
Cemetery Founded 1820. She said that it was one of the last copies she had left. The brochure was part of a
Project of the Department of Sociology, Augusta State University with the support of the Augusta - Richmohd
County Department of Trees and Landscape.
Enclosed, to help you remember.the brochure, are copies of the cover sheet, the Table of Contents and page 45
