Dear Harry:
We met with this property owner and made an offer for the appraised value. They objected to the
project, as well as to the amount. They counter offered; however, their counter offer is extremely high.
Attached is a letter of justification and it was written by the son of the property owner. The original offer
included payment for a small sign that will be involved in the taking. The sign was appraised and was
determined to have a value of $157.50. I am sending this parcel to you for possible condemnation.

Proposal To Widen Barton Chapel Road
I would like to voice my opposition to the current proposed plan of widening Barton Chapel Road affecting
the entranceways of 2655 and 2657 Barton Chapel Road, S&S Food Store and the rental property
containing Young's Restaurant and S&S Coin Laundry respectively. I deem the current proposal
unacceptable.
· During road construction business will lose revenue due to the inconvenience involved in entering and
exiting the premises.
· Due to the construction time and ultimately the inconvenience of entering and exiting the property
business would be lost to competitors.
· Loss of property at front of S&S Food Store will create a hazardous driving situation. Traffic
problems will be caused due to the close proximity of traffic entering and exiting the premises and cars
parked at the gas pumps.
· Cost of constructing new parking space to replace area lost to County not comparable to monetary offer
for land.
· Building the extension across the street would be far less intrusive due to the relative closeness of the
properties in comparison to the road itself.
. The physical loss of land will lower the resale value of the property.
· Had a buyer for all three business. But the individual back out because of having less lands and spaces.
He wanted us to reduce the price. So who's going to reimburse us for the loss?
The three businesses in question are the livelihoods of their owners. Ultimately the fate of three families
hangs in the balance. Without the lost revenues how will these families continue to support themselves?
