Augusta Severance Policy for Commission Appointed Positions
.
The purpose of this policy is to provide a severance package for those positions appointed by
the Augusta Commission.
Employees appointed by the Augusta-Richmond County Commission shall have a severance
package as part of the benefit package. The policy provides for severance pay when a
Commission appointee is terminated, without cause, by vote of the Commission. Under this
policy, the employee will receive:
1) One month pay (1/12 of the annual salary and benefit) during the first year of
employment and an additional month of ~everance for each additional year worked
in a Commission appointed position, not to exceed a maximum of six months.
. 2) .Employees serving in a non-commission appointed position will not be credited for
prior years of service under this policy if subsequently appointed by the Commission
to a covered position.
3) This policy will apply to current Commission appointees. Each current appointee
shall receive credit for years of service in accordance with this policy, not to exceed a
maximum of six months.
4) This policy will not void any contracted agreement currently in effect.
5) This policy is effective upon Commission approval.
6) This policy applies the following Commission Appointed Positions:
Department Directors
Clerk of Commission
DBE Coordinator
HO Officer
General Counsel
