ORDINANCE 6948 AN ORDINANCE TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF AUGUSTA AS A HISTORIC DISTRICT, TO DESCRIBE THE HISTORIC DISTRICT, TO SET FORTH THE NAMES OF THE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTIES WITHIN THE HISTORIC DISTRICT, TO REQUIRE THAT A CERTIFICATE OF APPROPIATENESS' BE OBTAINED BEFORE THE CITY OF AUGUSTA HISTORIC PRESEREVATION COMMISSION PRIOR TO ANY MATERIAL CHANGE IN THE APPEARANCE OF PROPERTIES WITHIN THE DESIGNATED DISTRICT, TO REQUIRE THAT PROPERTIES WITHIN THE DISTRICT BE IDENTIFIED AS HISTORIC PROPERTIES ON THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY, GEORGIA PURSUANT TO THE CITY OF AUGUSTA HISTORIC PRESERVATION ORDINANCE, FOUND AT TITLE 7-4 OF THE AUGUSTA CODE. THE AUGUSTA COMMISSION OF AUGUSTA GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION I. That the following described property be designated a historic district pursuant to Title 7-4 ofthe Augusta Code. Beginning at a point being at the intersection of the Savannah River with the Gordon Highway, being the point of beginning; running generally south along the east right-of-way of the Gordon Highway approximately 2400 feet to a point at the intersection of Gordon Highway and the rear property line of Tax Parcel Number 047-4-168-00-0; turning and running generally east along the rear property line of all properties fronting Telfair Street approximately 3000 feet to a point at the intersection of East Boundary and the rear property line of Tax Parcel Number 048-3-055-00-0; turning and running generally north along the west right-of-way of East Boundary approximately 2100 feet to a point at the Savannah River and the intersection of an imaginary line which is a northward extension of East Boundary; turning and running west along the Savannah River approximately 2800 feet to the point of beginning. SECTION II. That the following is the list of the owners of the designated properties as shown on the official tax records: 1 ' ,- SECTION III. That compliance with Code Section 7-4 entitled "Historic Preservation" shall be required within the area described in Section I of this Ordinance. SECTION IV. That the properties described herein be identified as a local historic district on the official zoning maps of Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia. SECTION V. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Done in Open Meeting under the Common Seal thereofthis 2.0....- day of Fp h , 2007.
