ORDINANCE NO. 6698 A resolution by the Augusta-Richmond County Planning Commission recommending that the Subdivision Regulations be amended as follows: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 402 E OF THE SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS OF AUGUSTA, GEORGIA, ADOPTED BY THE AUGUSTA COMMISSION ON MARCH 18, 1997 PERTAINING TO STREET SIGNS, AND SECTION 405 F PERTAINING TO THE CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS FOR PRIVATE STREETS. THE AUGUSTA COMMISSION HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION I. That the Ordinance regulating the subdivision of land in Augusta, Georgia, is amended by deleting Section 402 E in its entirety: E. Street name signs of a suitable design and durable material and lettered on both faces shall be installed by the subdivider on the northeast comer of the every intersection. Wooden signs and wooden posts shall not be used. Sign Sheeting Requirements for Regulatory, Warning and Guide Signs shall be fabricated using High Intensity, Retroreflective sheeting meeting the American Society of Testing and Materials specifications for D 4956 Type III or higher. Any variance from this standard street sign shall be approved by the Traffic Engineer and the Planning Commission. SECTION II. That the Ordinance regulating the subdivision of land in Augusta, Georgia, is amended by adding a new Section 402 E: E. Street name signs of a suitable design and durable material and lettered on both faces shall be installed by the subdivider on the northeast comer of the every intersection. Any variance from this standard street sign shall be approved by the Traffic Engineer and the Planning Commission. In private subdivisions, all street signs must clearly indicate that the streets are private. SECTION III. That the Ordina~ce regulating the subdivision of land in Augusta, Georgia, is amended by deleting Section 405 F in its entirety: F. .AII lots shall be provided, by means of streets which have been constructed in conformance with the standards and specifications of the Department of Public Works and dedicated in accordance with these Regulations, with access to an existing street which has been accepted for maintenance by the State of Georgia or Augusta, Georgia. Where private streets have a recorded provision for perpetual maintenance and a minimum fifty (50) foot right-of-way and are controlled by a responsible association, club, or fellowship, the foregoing may be waived by the Planning Commission. ( '- .t '.-'If . \ I"'" , , ~ . SECTION IV. That the Ordinance regulating the subdivision of land in Augusta, Georgia, is amended by adding a new Section 405 F: F. All lots shall be provided, by means of streets which have been constructed in conformance with the standards and specifications of the Development Regulations of Augusta-Richmond County, specifically the Land Subdivision Regulations and the Street and Road Design Technical Manual and dedicated in accordance with these Regulations, with access to an existing public street. Where private streets have a recorded provision for maintenance and are controlled by a duly incorporated association, the geometric and right-of-way provisions may be waived by the Planning Commission. The storm drainage and subgrade, base and pavement design standards for public streets shall not be waived for private streets. SECTION V. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Done in Open Meeting under the Common Seal thereof this 1-6 '1J7~ ,2004.
