ORDINANCE NO. 6574
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE 7, CHAPTER I OF THE AUGUSTA-
RICHMOND COUNTY CODE * 7-1-91; TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE; TO
REPEAL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION,
AND IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY AUTHORITY OF SAME AS FOLLOWS:
Section I.
Augusta-Richmond County Code, * 7-1-91 is hereby deleted in its entirety
and substituted in lieu thereof is the following:
~ 7-1-91. COMMENCING WORK WITHOUT PERMIT PROHIBITED;
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION.
A person, finn or corporation who commences any work on a
building, structure, electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, or who
causes the same to be done, before obtaining the necessary pennits, shall
be subject to a five hundred dollar ($500.00) penalty for the first offense
and a one thousand dollar ($1,000.00) penalty for the second offense and
each offense occurring thereafter.
Section 2.
This ordinance shall take effect January 1,2003.
Section 3.
If any telln, requirement or provision of this ordinance or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance shall, to any extent, be invalid or
unenforceable, the remainder of this ordinance or the application of such
tenns, requirements and provisions to persons or circumstances other than
those to which it is held invalid or unenforceable, shall not be affected
thereby and each teml, requirement or provision of this ordinance shall be
valid and be enforced to the fullest extent pemlitted by law.
Section 4.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances previously adopted by the Augusta-
Richmond County Commission, which are in conflict with this ordinance,
are hereby repealed to the extent necessary to eliminate such conflict.
This Ordinance shall become effective upon its adoption,
