An Ordinance to amend the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance adopted by the Board of
Commissioners of Riclunond County and the City Council of Augusta effective
November 15, 1983, entitled "An Ordinance to Readopt and Reconfirm the
Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance adopted March 25, 1963, by the Board of
Commissioners of Riclunond County and the City Council of Augusta, together with all
amendments which have been approved by either the Board of Commissioners of
Riclm10nd County or the City Council of Augusta as authorized under the Home Rule
Provisions of the Constitution of the State of Georgia" by changing the Comprehensive
Zoning Map from Zone A (Agriculture) to Zone R-IA (One-fanl.ily Residential)
affecting property located on the western portion of a parcel located near the North Leg
and Gordon Highway intersection; and for the repeal of ordinances in conflict herewith
and for other purposes:
THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance adopted by the
Board of Commissioners of Richmond County on the 15th day of November,
1983, the caption of which is set out above, is amended by changing
the Comprehensive Ordinance from Zone A (Agriculture) to Zone R-1A
(One-family Residential) affecting property as follows:

repealed

WHEREAS, by act of Congress of the United States dated July 2,1964, the Civil Rights
Act of 1964 was adopted banning discrimination because of a person's color, race, national
origin, religion, or sex; and
WHEREAS, by Act of Congress of the United States dated December 6,1865, the If"
Amendment of the Constitution of the United States was adopted abolishing slavery; and
WHEREAS, by act ofCollgress of the United States dated July 9,1868, the Ii"
Amendment of the Constitution of the United States was adopted giving all persons born or
naturalized in the United States the right to due process and equal protection under the law;
and
WHEREAS, by resolution of the National League of Cities, we declare racism unjust
and advocate equal rights for all.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED that the City of Augusta hereby proclaims
September 20, 2000 as "Undoing Racism Day" in the City of Augusta and urge all citizens to
join together for the first annual Undoing Racism Day to reaffirm our commitment to ensure
equality andfreedomfor all the people regardless of race, religion, sexual preference, or
gender.
