AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 6-7-10 OF
THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY CODE
REGULATING TAXI CABS; TO REMOVE THE
LIMITATION ON THE NUMBER OF TAXI CABS; TO
PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DATE; TO REPEAL
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY COMMISSION
AND IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE AUTHORITY OF SAME AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
The Augusta-Richmond County Code, Section
6-7-10, to-wit:
~ 6-7-10. NUMBER LIMITED; SALE OF BUSINESS TAX
CERTIFICATE.
The number of taxi cabs authorized to be operated
by business tax certificate holders under the
provisions of this Article shall be limited to the
total number for which business tax certificates
were issued as of December 31, 1995 by the Richmond
County Board of Commissioners and the City Council
of Augusta combined.
A business tax certificate
issued by Augusta-Richmond County can not be sold
or transferred with the prior written approval of
the Commission.
is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following substituted
therefor, to-wit:

NUMBER UNLIMITED; SALE OF BUSINESS TAX
CERTIFICATE.
The number of taxi cabs authorized to be operated

by business tax certificate holders under the
provisions of this Article shall not be limited. A
business tax certificate issued by Augusta-Richmond
County cannot be sold or transferred without the
prior written approval of the Commission.
Section 2.
This Ordinance shall become effective upon
adoption.
Section 3.
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
