AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PERSONNEL POLICIES
AND PROCEDURES MANUAL FOR RICHMOND COUNTY,
GEORGIA SO AS TO MODIFY THE GRIEVANCE AND
APPEALS PROCESS FOR EMPLOYEES; TO REPEAL
CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; TO PROVIDE AN
EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. -
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY
COMMISSION AND IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY AUTHORITY OF SAME AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Personnel Policies and Procedures
Manual for employees of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission,
which Manual was adopted by the Commission on April 2, 1996, is
hereby amended by deleting Section 12.C.4.a. in its entirety, to
wit:
within ten (10) days of receiving the
statement of charges, the Personnel Board
will hold an open hearing and receive the
evidence in relation to the matter.
and substituting therefor the following:
At its next scheduled meeting, the Personnel
Board will hold an open hearing and receive
the evidence in relation to the matter.
Section 2. The Personnel Policies and Procedures
Manual for employees of the Augusta-Richmond County commission,
which Manual was adopted by the Commission on April 2, 1996, is
hereby further amended by deleting Section 12.C.4.b. in its
entirety, to wit:

Within five (5) working days of the hearing,
a decision will be rendered by the majority
of the voting members of the Personnel Board
and a recommendation will be submitted to the
Augusta-Richmond County Commission-Council.
Recommendations of the Personnel Board shall
not be legally binding on the Augusta-
Richmond County Commission-Council.
and substituting therefor the following:
within five (5) working days of the hearing,
a decision will be rendered by the majority
of the voting members of the Personnel Board.
The Human Resources Director will notify the
employee in writing of the decision of the
Personnel Board.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be effective
immediately upon adoption.
Section 4. All laws or ordinances or parts of laws or
ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
